Q:

How do I apply to take the COHN/COHN-S Certification Exam?   A: Call the American Board for Occupational Health Nurses at 888-842-2646 or www.abohn.org. The application form is available online along with the criteria for sitting for the exam and exam locations.

Q:

What resources will I need to study for the COHN/COHN-S Certification Exam?   A:

In addition to our course manuals, Occupational Health and Safety Principles and Nursing Certification Review, it is suggested that you have the AAOHN Core Curriculum for Occupational and Environmental Health Nursing (3rd edition) and the AAOHN Core Curriculum Study Guide. These books are now out-of-print. Check with friends and libraries to see if you can borrow a copy. A new release is anticipated in May 2014.

The AAOHN Journal and Workplace Health & Safety Case Management Reference is also a recommended resource. It is available for purchase from AAOHN at www.aaohn.org, 800-241-8014.

Q:

I'm going to take the COHN/COHN-S Review Course. Do I need to bring any resources with me to class?   A: If you have a copy of the AAOHN Core Curriculum for Occupational and Environmental Health Nursing and the AAOHN Core Curriculum Study Guide, please bring it to the class.
Q: Do I need to be an RN to take this course?  

A:

No, the class is open to everyone.
Q: What resources will I receive at the class?  

A:

You will receive a copy of the two-volume course syllabus, Occupational Health and Safety Principles and Nursing Certification Review, handouts and Internet resource information.
Q: What time does the class start and end?  

A:

Class hours are 8:00a.m.-5:30 p.m.
Q: Can special courses be arranged for corporations or nursing chapters?  

A:

Yes. If you have 10 or more people interested in taking the course and would like to arrange a class, call 805-527-8988 for further information.
Q: Do I have to attend all the sessions to receive my CEUs?  

A:

Yes, you must attend the full program to receive Continuing Education Credits.
Q: How soon should I take a review course before I take the certification exam?  

A:

Individuals vary in how they study. Some like to begin their review a year before the exam, others a few months or weeks before the exam.
Q: Will the CEU's I earn from this class count toward my Recertification?  

A:
